Privacy policy for FocusPing

FocusPing ("the App," "we," "us") is a simple focus-reminder tool. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App interacts with, how it's used, and the choices you have. We've kept the App deliberately simple, and this policy reflects that.

 1. Our Approach to Privacy

FocusPing is designed to work primarily on your device, with minimal data collection. We don't require an account to use the App, and we don't sell your data to anyone.

 2. Information the App Uses

 a. Audio You Provide

You can choose or upload your own audio clip (a voice note, motivational recording, or sound file) to play when a timer ends. This audio is stored locally on your device and is used only to play back at the end of your set interval. We do not access, listen to, transmit, or share this audio.

b. Timer and App Settings

Your chosen interval lengths, vibration preferences, and other app settings are stored locally on your device so the App remembers your preferences between sessions.

c. Device Permissions

The App may request permission to:  files, only if you choose to upload audio.

- Trigger vibration, to deliver the gentle nudge when a timer ends.

These permissions are used solely to power the features you activate. You can review or revoke permissions at any time in your device settings.

d. Diagnostic and Usage Data (if applicable)

If the App uses standard crash-reporting or analytics tools to identify bugs and improve stability, this may include anonymized technical information (e.g., device type, OS version, crash logs). This data does not include your audio files or personal identity and is not used for advertising.

3. Background/Foreground Operation

To make sure your timer and audio alert trigger reliably, FocusPing runs as a foreground service while your timer is active — meaning it keeps running even if you switch to another app. This does not display a persistent notification, so your reminder isn't delayed or stopped by the system. This service only manages the countdown and playback locally; it does not collect or transmit any data while running in this mode.

 4. What We Don't Do

- We don't require you to create an account or provide personal identifying information to use the App.

- We don't sell, rent, or share your audio clips or personal data with advertisers or data brokers.

- We don't use your audio content or usage patterns to build advertising profiles.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your audio files and settings are stored locally on your device. If the App offers optional cloud backup or sync in the future, that feature will be opt-in, and this policy will be updated to describe it before it's enabled.

 6. Children's Privacy

FocusPing is intended for general audiences, including students. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children beyond what's described above (locally stored audio/settings), and we do not use any data for profiling or advertising to children.

7. Your Choices

- You can revoke permissions through your device's settings.

- Uninstalling the App removes locally stored data associated with it, subject to your device's standard behavior.

 8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the App evolves. If changes are significant (for example, introducing cloud sync or account features), we'll update the "Last updated" date and make reasonable efforts to notify users within the App.
